CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME IN URBAN MANAGEMENT INDIA  
     
  The Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) - The World Bank Institute (WBI) have jointly established a Certification Programme in Urban Management as an important initiative of their partnership.The Programme has received the endorsement from Ministry of Urban Development (MUD), Government of India. The Programme has been designed to enhance the capacities of urban sector professionals who are appropriately trained and have demonstrated their competence to effectively take up challenging responsibilities in urban management. It seeks to provide urban professionals with a vehicle through which they can gain the latest knowledge on key aspects of urban management and can develop innovative solutions to resolve major issues faced by Indian cities  
     
  The programme offers the following four complementary phases:  
     
  Phase 1: Change Management, Municipal Finance and Service Delivery  
     
  Phase 2: Good Urban Governance and Urban Poverty Reduction Strategies  
     
  Phase 3: Preparation and Submission of IDR Report  
     
  Phase 4: Presentation of IDR Report  
     
  The first phase will be of longer duration, two weeks, and focuses on change management, municipal finance and service delivery while the second phase will be of one week duration and represents the topic good urban governance and urban poverty reduction strategies.  
     
 
 
 
     
  The Certification Programme adopts an interactive approach, with a blend of lectures, case studies, video films, simulation exercises, exchange of experiences, and field visits. In addition, panel discussions involving leading experts and practitioners would be organized to promote candid dialogue on contemporary issues of specific relevance to programme participants. Eminent international and national experts deliver talks and share their experiences on relevant topics during the programme.  
     
  ASCI and WBI have organized the Certification Programmes in 2004, 2005 and 2006, targeting city managers and senior administrative representatives of Indian cities. Subsequent Certification Programme is being Organised in 2007.Interested Participants can register here.
