 What is Urban Resource Link...
The Urban Resource Link is an information support service on key reform areas for cities under the JNNURM programme. It aims to address the information needs of urban managers and associated sector professionals. It is an initiative managed by the Administrative Staff College of India and supported by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India and the World Bank Institute.

The Urban Resource Link covers the broad areas of reform under (i) Service Delivery & Infrastructure (ii) Financial Reform (iii) Decentralization & Accountability (iv) Urban Environment & (v) Poverty & Urban Economics and provides information support on various aspects such as policy, regulation, legislation, public private partnerships, internal efficiency & business process reengineering, strategic planning, capacity enhancement, e-governance and best practices. |
Why Urban Resource Link?
Information Support critical to the new reform agenda!
Indian cities are on the move! They are playing pivotal roles as engines of economic growth for the nation, enhancing the quality of their citizens’ lives. In an increasingly competitive environment, cities are aspiring to achieve new standards in governance and service delivery. They are embarking on a complex reform agenda for which information is a critical support area! Cities are now improving the delivery of services, developing poverty alleviation strategies, upgrading public infrastructure, accelerating financial reforms, streamlining administrative and management systems, improving transparency and involving citizens in meaningful ways. They are working towards achieving continuous water supply, universal sanitation, integrated solid waste management etc. The Government of India is providing support and incentives to urban local bodies who are working to realize the objective of the reforms through programmes such as the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The need of urban local bodies to adopt this reform agenda has increased their demand for information and knowledge support. The Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) a leading management institute providing policy and advisory support to Governments is responding to this need through the Urban Resource Link . This initiative is managed in partnership with the World Bank Institute (WBI) and supported by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. |
